    About the expedition

    Orange December and ophthalmology

The 13th Zoé expedition, carried out in December 2022, traveled over 120km through riverside communities along the Arapiuns River. Aligned with Orange December, we focused on skin cancer prevention, providing dermatological consultations and surgeries. Additionally, for the first time, we offered eye screening and ophthalmological care, expanding our scope. With the work of 17 volunteers, we performed hundreds of exams, dermatological consultations, and surgeries. Zoé is making a difference, and we invite everyone to join us on this journey.

139 people needing glasses, 41 with pterygium, and 32 with cataracts identified during the first ophthalmologic screening.
