The 42nd Surgical Expedition in Belterra took place from November 29 to December 7, 2025. The team included professionals from various specialties, such as surgeons, dermatologists, radiologists, pediatricians, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, anesthesiologists, among others. During the expedition, 215 ultrasounds, 1,170 eye exams, 100 pediatric consultations, 60 gynecological visits, 80 dermatological visits, 130 ophthalmological visits, 20 geriatric consultations, 48 pulmonary consultations were conducted, along with multiple surgeries, including 18 gallbladder, 18 hernia, 20 pediatric, 22 ophthalmological, and 5 gynecological procedures.
For the first time in the history of Belterra, we performed pediatric and ophthalmological surgeries, restoring vision to 17 people.
The 42nd Expedition also marks a historic moment for Zoé: we have surpassed 20,000 consultations since our founding.
There were 52 general surgeries, 23 dermatological, 17 ophthalmological, and 3 gynecological procedures, with approximately half a ton of state-of-the-art equipment and donated supplies.
The 40 dermatological procedures performed included removal of suspicious lesions, biopsies, and treatments that, without the expedition, would have required travel of hundreds of kilometers. In the Amazon, where intense sun exposure increases the risk of skin cancer, early access to a dermatologist can make the difference between a simple procedure and a complex treatment.
