Why varicose vein treatment and ultrasound exams?
In this expedition, Zoé did more than just provide medical assistance — we also donated essential equipment for setting up two operating rooms in Belterra, including anesthesia equipment and high-tech electrosurgical scalpels. The initiative involved 15 dedicated volunteers, including specialists in ultrasound and vascular medicine, nurses, students, and professionals in marketing and documentation, who together completed 249 procedures and consultations.
I live in this paradise, with a creek behind my house and along the banks of the Tapajós, which is 19 km wide. What we lacked was healthcare, which now the ONG Zoé provides us. — Mr. Edson, Aramaní community

What marked this expedition
Two operating rooms ready in Belterra
We pre-assembled two operating rooms at the Municipal Hospital of Belterra, with donated anesthesia equipment and electric scalpels, and set up two instrument boxes for hernia surgery or similar procedures.
Local partnerships
The Belterra City Hall will assist in enabling a surgical center; UFOPA allowed use of Abaré's images; and the NGO Saúde e Alegria provided a boat that took us to Aveiro.
Varicose veins are not just cosmetic
Varicose veins in the legs are not only a cosmetic issue: they cause pain and discomfort. During the second expedition, many patients received non-surgical treatment, with 3 vascular doctors and 2 ultrasound technicians on the team.
