    About the expedition

    Endoscopy and Ultrasound Without Borders

ONG Zoé carried out another expedition in the Tapajós region, delivering quality medical care to riverside communities. One of the highlights this time was a pilot project to eventually operate telemedicine for endoscopy exams, enabling remote diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal issues. This was a first experience, aiming to ensure future improvements in care by leveraging technology. Telemedicine is a tool that connects volunteer doctors from different parts of Brazil and other countries, who can offer their expertise and guidance to field professionals. In addition to endoscopy exams, the expedition also performed ultrasounds and dermatological consultations, preventing and detecting skin cancer cases. A total of 506 people were attended, receiving humane and high-quality care exceeding the expected target of 367 visits. ONG Zoé does not aim to replace the role of the State but rather to contribute to and strengthen public health policies. More than just delivering medical assistance, Zoé also learns from communities, respecting their culture and way of life. Volunteers return from expeditions with greater gratitude and admiration for the Tapajós people.
